Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell was born April 28, 1952. She is an American stage actor, film and television star. Her performances in Dances with Wolves, Stands With A Fist and Passion Fish saw her receive Academy Award nominations. McDonnell is well-known for her performance as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica as well as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day and Rose in Donnie Darko. McDonnell played Captain Sharon Raydor on seasons 5-7 of TNT's television series The Closer. She also starred in Major Crimes, the spin-off series that airs on TNT's network, as Commander Sharon Raydor.
